Who is SGV ?



The Swiss Goldprospectors' Association is a non-profit organization under Swiss law founded in 1989. It's goals are the support and promotion of the gold prospecting hobby in Switzerland. About 400 recreational gold prospectors are currently active as members in the Association in Switzerland.

What do SGV do?



The four main objectives of the Swiss Goldprospectors' Association are:Publication of a quarterly bulletin, the "Goldwäscherzytig" (in German).

Collecting literature about gold occurrences in Switzerland and making it accessible to members.

Organizing annual excursions to Swiss gold prospecting areas or old gold mining sites.

Organization of the bi-annual Swiss Goldpanning Championships. In the past, the Goldpanning Championships have been held in Hergiswil bei Willisau (1989), Gohl near Langnau (1991), Littau near Lucerne (1993), Pfungen near Winterthur (1995), Ponte Tresa in the Ticino (1997), Willisau in Central Switzerland (1999) and Brig in the Canton Valais (2001). In 2003 the Swiss Goldprocpectors' Association was the organizer of the World Goldpanning Championship in Willisau (2003). The following Swiss Goldpanning Championships (2005, 07 and 09) took place in Bowil.The Swiss Goldprospector's Association is a member of and is the Swiss representation in the World Goldpanning Association (WGA). The WGA is the official organisor of the annual World Goldpanning Championships.
